What happens when you Turn up the Heat?

               What happens

                    when you

             Turn up the Heat?

Galatians 5:7-10 NKJV

You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.

There are leavens in life that can affect us and our testimony for Christ positively AND negatively.

Just as heat activates leaven in the process of bread baking, so do the pressures of life present influence that can either propel us to greater heights spiritually, or present the environment for plummeting to low places in our life.

So when life turns up the heat....do you see the fruits of the Spirit of God emerging from your life? Or do you see the root of bitterness that has been hiding inside waiting for the proper conditions to cause a setback in your walk with the Lord?

Learn to respond and not react

James 1:19-20 NKJV

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

A huge part of being spirit led is the ability to allow the Holy Spirit access to control what comes out of us.

Jesus said that it was not what goes into a man that defiles him....but what comes out. (Matt. 15:11)

The book of James is a biblical tutelage on the operation and ownership of  the human mouth. If is it not connected to the right place, it can cause a world of trouble. Connected to the brain, it is destructive. Routed through the Holy Spirit, it can be used for good.

You'll keep your head if your heart leads the way

John 16:12-15 NKJV

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.  All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Holy Ghost is not some merit badge for the overly spiritual. He is the teaching, comforting, instructing, wisdom machine of the empowered believer.

God sent His spirit to dwell in and among us that we might live together and run as one man. When the flesh is in operation, there is mass confusion al l around. The flesh looks out for itself. The Spirit of God, however, has higher aspirations and has the goal of bringing unity in the body.

It is possible to keep the leaven of the Pharisees from emerging in our lives if when the heat rises in a situation, the Holy Ghost is firmly in charge and we draw from His infinite wisdom and grace.

There is no school for life. The Holy Ghost is our on the job life coach.

Romans 8:26-28 NKJV

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the  will  of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a huge proponent of so called “self-help” books, and programs. I believe that in our careers and social dynamics, they can be useful to boost communications and efficiency to select situations. But, as David said in Psalm 121:2, “My help comes from the Lord.”

When it comes to being a success in life, it is done one of two ways. It is either done “dog eat dog” or “God, only God”.  Heidi Baker always says that her greatest prayer is “help”.

Reliance upon the Lord in our life is an irreplaceable dynamic in the world of a believer. The Holy Spirit can turn around a situation from surviving to thriving. He can bring us from weakness to completeness. His presence in our lives can deflate the leaven that blows our woes out of proportion and increase our anointing to unstoppable levels.

And the evidence in our lives is never a secret....it plainly shows as what happens when you turn up the heat...
