Joshua 1:1-9 NKJV

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord , it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be  able  to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so  I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Success in today’s society is an ill-defined word. We now equate success with financial worth or even more distant from its true meaning, the accrual of worldly things.

The true meaning of success is as it is in biblical usage.

A primitive root; to be (causeatively make or act) circumspect and hence intelligent: - consider, expert, instruct, prosper, (deal) prudent (-ly), (give) skill (-ful), have good success, teach, (have, make to) understand (-ing), wisdom, (be, behave self,

consider, make) wise (-ly), guide wittingly.

The word has more to do with the accrual of wisdom and the wealth of Godly knowledge than it does to simply have “a magic touch” in business.  Success in wisdom and knowledge causes you to have lasting wealth in every area of your life...not simply by man’s values system.

Success is not a formula, but a life...learned in chapters of lessons...over time...this is wisdom.

Uncompromising trust in God

Proverbs 3:5-10 NKJV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

If your trust is in the system and the operating values of the world, you will continually be chasing failure rather than pursuing God’s wisdom.

You can never make anyone or anything your source in this life and expect to receive directly from God.  God moves on the hearts of man to accomplish things on your behalf...but that is a characteristic that God chooses to do himself.  Everyplace in both the Old and New Testament where God moves was to accomplish his purposes rather than meet man’s need.

God meets our need “According to HIS riches in Glory in Christ Jesus”. That means that HE is glorified...his purposes fulfilled. His plan is far deeper than we can figure out.

Make Jesus your senior business partner

Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Whether you are self-employed or you have an are firstly in a covenant arrangement with Jesus if you are a believer. Your needs are not met by a check...or an employer...or a dead president.

As a believer, you place your trust in Jesus that he becomes the provision in your life.

Rule of thumb...every area of your life is a place to make Jesus first. He is first in our giving...He is first in our wisdom of how to spend...He is first in our queries of requesting a need be met.

If we treat him as simply an employee in our lives...he is no longer empowered by us to take the reins and meet our need.

NEVER give up.

Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord , The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those  who  have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

WORDS TO LIVE BY: The Best time to become a procrastinator is when you are thinking about giving’s something you can always do tomorrow.

There is no quitting in success. There is no blaming in success. There is no maybe in success. There is no later in success.

If you look at the way we are designed. Our bodies do not put off things till later...or tomorrow. The blood pumps through our bodies via our hearts...or we’re dead. Our bodies metabolize food and drink to keep us from just fading away. Our body is not designed to just quit. It’s ideal function is to keep going. It runs even when our conscious being is asleep.

Winners never quit....and quitters never win. The Bible is a network of completed roads. The Bible tells us that we are to run the race...fight the good fight...finish the course. Noah finished the ark amid doubt and ridicule. Mary completed her mission to birth the messiah in the face of scandal and threats. Jesus completed his perfect work in the face of doubt and abuse and even betrayal.

Success is not about how much money you’s about how many lives you impact for the Kingdom of God.
