LET IT RAIN...THE SOGGY ROAD TO REVIVAL

Let it rain...

The soggy road to revival

July 23, 2014

Isaiah 45:5-8 NKJV

I am the Lord , and there  is no other; There  is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there  is none besides Me. I am the Lord , and there  is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord , do all these things. ’ “Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord , have created it.

I hear it said all the time that “the world needs to get saved”....I agree... And I disagree. While the statement is true, the simple facts are that for the world to be led to Jesus...we’re going to have to present something to the world that they will follow.

I hear it said all the time that the church needs revival. Having been a son of three revivals in my walk with the Lord....I know enough to, with accuracy, say that before that will happen, the church must be willing to pay what it will cost to have revival.

I hear it said all the time that they are looking for the perfect church... and I say to them to stop making it about themselves and begin to receive the imperfect into their bosoms and they will find the perfection of Jesus’ love.

Sin can be forgiven...impetuous pompous religion is an ongoing unforgivable act. It is the pictorial definition of mockery of the Holy Spirit.

The road to revival is not high, dry, and comfortable...it is bumpy, un-comfy, and soggy.  Lord...LET IT RAIN!!!

Waterless clouds

Watch carefully who you follow

II Peter 2:12-17 NKJV

But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They  are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and  are accursed children. They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

God has no agenda. He is not trying to convert us to or proselyte us into a religion....His sole concern is to save us from destruction. His chosen method has been discipleship through those who will avail themselves....not called by qualification, but qualified by calling.

Following people with agendas is like following a roadmap published by a fast food restaurant chain. Their routes are always going to take you past their locations. True leadership never points to self...but ahead to the cross.

Waterless clouds....some say wells...take you to a place that looks like the right place, but is not what it appears to be. It is not concerned with destination, only the vehicle you’re riding in that promised to take you there.

Rain contributes to growth not thunder

I Corinthians 13:1-3 NKJV

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the  gift  of  prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the  poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

God doesn’t need a gimmick.

Ever hear thunder in the distance and think....man, we could really use some rain... Only with all the rumbling you hear and the flashing in the sky you see; there is no rain.

The facts are that the thunder can rumble for a week...and the sky can flash for a month....but only rain will bring Growth.

The same holds true for the rain of God’s Holy Spirit. His rain promises salvations...His rain brings healings and deliverances. His rain contains the nutrients that foster the miraculous.

I would rather have five minutes of true rain....than two weeks of rumblings and flashing that net nothing.

Rain cools....soothes the effects of the heat

Acts 3:19-21 NKJV

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Acts 3:19-21 (amplified)

19 So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of [d]reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

20 And that He may send [to you] the Christ (the Messiah), Who before was designated and appointed for you—even Jesus,

21 Whom heaven must receive [and retain] until the time for the complete restoration of all that God spoke by the mouth of all His holy prophets for ages past [from the most ancient time in the memory of man].

I have begun to liken the efforts of man as that of the engine of an old poorly serviced automobile. It needs an oil change...Its rubber parts are all cracked and brittle. Its radiator and cooling system is plugged with rust and debris it has leaks and it overheats when it runs too long.

The Oil...is the thinking of man. He has tried to replace the blood of Christ with good ideas. He has attempted to redesign the Holy Spirit to fit his description and that my friend is the definition of religion.

The rubber parts are the members of the body. They no longer work together, but are barely surviving themselves individually because of the extremes of heat and lack of attention. Rather than being the catalysts for life within the system, each now present a threat of failure that will cause a collapse of other things near it.

The radiator and cooling system are the availability of refreshing within the body. In an engine, cooling system failure can mean the complete destruction of the engine itself. When we no longer value praise and worship...when prayer and intercession become a laborious task, it ends up overheating the system because fresh fluids are not flooding throughout the water jackets of the engine keeping it running to its maximum.

WHAT DO WE DO???

WE SEEK HIM IN PRAYER, PRAISE, and WORHSIP

WE ADHERE TO HIS WORD AND FOLLOW HIS PATHS ACCORDING TO THAT WORD.

WE WELCOME THE RAIN TO FALL DOWN....BUT DON’T EXPECT  IT TO FALL DOWN IN THE SANCTUARY IN THE CHURCH UNTIL IT IS INUNDATING YOUR OWN LIFE.

LORD...LET IT RAIN!!!
