JOY AND HOPE

            Joy and Hope

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NKJV

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord , thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

If there is two things the world needs right now it is Joy and Hope. These two interwoven elements from heaven are the indispensable ingredients that allow God to thrive in our culture.

So long as we continue to pursue for the earthbound things...we will continue to take stabs in the dark like the “coexist movement”, the “give peace a chance” mentality, the “good in man” philosophy, and the “humanistic approach” to societal harmony.

The simple truth is that there is no coexistence with Satanic lies, there is no peace without the God of the universe, there is not good in man without the Holy Spirit and societal harmony will never be found in mans’ philanthropic efforts.

The truth is that we need Jesus to heal the hearts of man, we need God to move across the earth to change our lives and we need the Holy Spirit of God to revive the world from the parching effects of our worldly culture. We need something that ONLY GOD can bring to our lives and that is genuine Joy and Hope.

Losing your Joy creates a hole in your hope boat...

Psalms 27:11-14 NKJV

Teach me Your way, O Lord , And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I  would  have  lost  heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord ; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord !

Our relationship with God forages a path that leads us to hope. The depth of our walk with God also manifests in Joy as we connect to Jesus in an ever greater way.

Joy is a navigational system that steers us away from the hazards and the storms that can destroy our hope and expectation from the Lord. We do not lose our joy from the lack of things in which to find our joy. We lose our joy when we distance ourselves from Jesus.

The Joy of the Lord is our Strength (Neh. 8:10)...so naturally His life in us creates a bulwark that covers us when the storms of life rock our world. When our joy is intact, our hope is protected and we can continue to see past the temporary things that could capsize our belief in God to do exceedingly more than we could ask or think.  (Eph. 3:20)

Maintaining your joy isn't good enough...finding and clinging to the source of true joy is imperative to discover fullness of joy....

John 15:9-13 NKJV

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.  This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

As man’s efforts and rewards of life are fleeting and temporary, so are his abilities to have a self-sustaining joy.  In fact, the joy that we find for ourselves is a never ending effort to feed the monster we create. Our joy usually consists of something in which we find pleasure. However, our humanity is so fickle, that once we grow weary of that thing, we move on in search of the next thrill.

Jesus tells us here in John 15 that one of the purposes of the commandments and the great commandments was for our lives to take on a God nature in which His Joy could not simply be interfaced, but also REMAIN. His joy is not a flighty rendezvous with a toy, but something real that attaches itself to our spirit man.

God’s word gives clarity to our lives in that we are not continually trusting in a thing to bring us to the next level, but in a relationship that GROWS us in an ever increasing love affair with God that yields the wonderful fruits of Joy and a hope that transcends the disappointments of life.

In God there is hope

In Jesus there is Fullness of Joy

In the Holy Spirit there is comfort, direction and strength.

John 14:25-28 NKJV

“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said,  ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

Religion does not work. That is not a conditional statement...that is an absolute. Religion simply creates a trademark that has no substance to it. Our focus as believers lays 100 percent in RELATIONSHIP.  When you become religious, you become unapproachable. Pompousness and arrogance seize the day as the connectivity with heaven becomes sadly earthbound.

Relationship releases us to explore heaven through the joy we find in the presence of God. Our kindred spirit with Jesus frees us to dance with him and worship with abandon as David danced. The Holy Spirit dwelling in us causes us to walk straight paths not governed by the law, but navigated by grace, that leads us to green pastures and still waters.

Peace is such a prostituted word. We throw it around like we can actually do something about it. We talk about world peace, peace talks, peace treaties, peace this and peace that. TRUE PEACE, LASTING PEACE, GENUINE PEACE ONLY COMES THROUGH GOD. There is not peace in our lives, when there is no God in our lives. Jesus paid a heavy price for peace. Joy and Hope deliver a peace we cannot comprehend...will never understand. His peace defies reason. And the simple fact is...we don’t need to understand it...just receive it.
