II Timothy 1:3-7 NKJV

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my  forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy speaks of these three attributes gifted into our lives by the Holy Spirit. When God gives a gift, it is not intended as a useless gift drawer item, but as a vital tool to achieve the supernatural in our lives.

Paul reminds Timothy of his holy heritage found in Lois his grandmother, and Eunice his mother. Paul says that he believes Timothy walks in that same anointing, which is cause enough to kindle the blaze to accomplish the miraculous for God

As believers, too many of us are shuffled to the rear of the car, stripped of our confidence by Satan...made less by a false belief that we must settle for the crumbs when we in fact have each been given full access to the King’s table.  We live life not on leftovers, but we receive his blessings with COMPOUND INTEREST.

Is what activates us

Acts 1:4-8 NKJV

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,”  He  said,  “you have heard from Me;  for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”  Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The first of these three compounding elements that God has given us is POWER...yep it’s the same word. is the same word from which we receive the name for the high explosive “Dynamite”. Dunamis power is the type of mountain moving power that Jesus spoke of when he described how faith the size of a mustard seed could remove a mountain into the sea.

When you buy a new smartphone, it comes with literally thousands of powerful tools onboard. Everything from a calculator to a guitar tuner can be found or added to these amazing tools. The phone however is not fully functional until the cell provider ACTIVATES the phone. ACTIVATION requires approval, requires assignment of services. Once your phone is activated you have full range and scope of services as an authorized user.

(and you shall be endued with power!)

Is what moves us

I Corinthians 13:11-13 NKJV

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

When I met my wife, I had aspirations for a relationship with her....I pursued her. I was not just aggressive...there was a motivator behind my pursuit...that motivator was love.

Love is what God’s power looks life. God is Love. His love is never to tear down or destroy. His love is not puffed up or selfish...His love is not for the conquering of empires, but for the building of His Kingdom.

Once we are empowered, we see the evidence begin to pour forth from our lives. What triggers the passions...our desire to see the lost saved, the blind see, the lame healed, the deaf hear...that passion comes from what moves us...and that is HIS love.

Sound Mind

Is what sustains us

Psalms 51:10-13 NKJV

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by  Your  generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.

The Sound Mind of 2 Timothy1 and the “Steadfast Spirit” of Psalms 51 are the same animal. If you look up the Etymology of the two terms, you see that the “Steadfast of Psalm 51 and the “Sound” of 2Timothy 1 share a common meaning; that being upright, steady, and true. So we are not asking God to make us sane, but to release from our lives a spirit of solid thinking that transfers into everyone we encounter.

The word “Spirit” here in 2Timothy 1 is likewise the same as in Psalm 51. They are both words meaning “Breath”. So in essence, God, in both cases gifts into our lives an UPRIGHT STEADY BREATH from heaven that we use for his good pleasure.

Look at how Psalms 51:13 wraps this up:  Once this sound mind is in place, we are then in position to do the great exploits of God. It is then we are able to teach transgressors the ways of God and lead the lost to Christ.

We have tried through the ages to do everything from use martyrdom to blunt trauma force to spread the Gospel....when all along it was part of our equipping with POWER, LOVE,  and a SOUND MIND that made us effective for Jesus in the Kingdom.
