Joel 2:28-32 NKJV

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My  menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord . And it shall come to pass That  whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.

Manifest presence of the Lord is the key to revival. No revival. Man cannot generate the miraculous. Man who claims to be able to generate the miraculous is called a “Magician”.

God, in the book of Joel and again reiterated in the book of Acts in Chapter two by Peter the Apostle says that in the last times....we will see a time of sons and daughters prophesying....we will experience the wisdom of the church giving birth to the miracle realms through divine inspiration of miracles. And to put capstone to this outpouring the Young will bear dreams that manifest God’s promises into the world yielding a great end time harvest for God before the skies rend and world turmoil occurs.

We are fast approaching the season of the miraculous for the church. Man is out of ideas, his earthly wisdom has run its it’s time for God to have his way.

Prophecy, the canvas

I Corinthians 14:1-5 NKJV

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts,  but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

Satan has a specific design for his plan to derail the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in every church he can. God’s manifestations bring a change in the atmosphere. The greatest of temples in the city will never see the level of miraculous displayed in the tabernacle in the wilderness.

Prophecy provides a canvas on which God can paint the portraits of what is to come for us. The church cannot flourish as a living being without receiving the blueprint for the future that comes through prophecy. The office of the prophet is at present redefining itself, this time according to God’s definition.

As gifts of prophecy increase in the last days church, we will see along with that the boldness to operate in those gifts and give ourselves over to His plans and purposes. Look at 1 Corinthians here where Paul tells us that prophecy speaks....edification....exhortation...comfort.

The dream machine

Matthew 2:16-23 NKJV

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying: “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted, Because they are no more.” Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.” Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

Most of our greatest inventions began with a dream....someone had to see it in the abstract before it could manifest in the natural. Now these are just men’s dreams. Imagine what happens when God invades our dream life.

Just in Matthew chapter 2, look at how God’s visitation by dream changed the course of everything. God spoke to the wise men IN A DREAM and warned them not to go back to Herod. Herod became incensed that he had been duped by the wise men and therefore launched a murderous rage against all male children two and under in the region. Joseph learns from God...IN A DREAM...that he is to take Jesus and Mary and get out of they head for Israel as per the dream...In Israel, Joseph is again warned ....IN A DREAM to redirect their route eventually settling in Nazereth fulfilling prophecy. Can you see how God has this all laid out? And some churches will call you “mystical” and “weird”...what would they have called Joseph?

Dreams are the storyboard of God’s plans for us. Those who dream God dreams are entering a season of fruitfulness and vital importance they have not known since the writing of the New Testament.

Acts 9:10-19 NKJV

Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.  And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.” Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.  For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.” And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.

So, I would define prophecy as design and engineering.....dreams would be logistics or getting the project in place....and finally Visions....Visions is better viewed as God’s GPS.

We NEED heavenly direction....without heavenly direction, we know what we are supposed to do.....we have the equipping to do the work, but knowing how to get there is where visions comes into play.

Jesus stopped Saul of Tarsus on the Damascus road...He used blindness to let him know just who he was dealing with. Saul’s future as Paul had just been laid out for him. Then, Ananias is visited in a vision of how all of this would play out. Paul and Ananias lives were orchestrated for them by the Holy Spirit right down to the introductions and the addresses. It was all to serve a higher heavenly purpose. As God’s plan was fulfilled in Paul’s life, so was his ministry and as a result many changed lives during his time on earth.
