Hope you're having an awesome summer. We have been so busy around here! With the warmer weather, we have also seen an increase in opportunities to serve the Lord. Pastor Leslie and I have been in and out of town between conferences, and retreats, and family functions, and finally...a week off last week. With the return of our fourth child (third daughter) Rachel from a year with our dear friends at New Covenant Fellowship in Montana, we decided to do some re-bonding a la Smoky Mountains. So we gassed up the black stallion (our Chevy Avalanche) and headed for Tennessee. It was a wonderful time of just enjoying each other. We took in the breathtaking mountain views, and some of the more "touristy" fare the area has to offer, but the big winner for us were the streams and rivers in the national park. While the kids splashed and explored in the clear mountain water, I was just taking all of the Glory of God into my spirit. I began to listen to the sound of the water as it rushed over the rocks and stones in the stream. Some were still jagged from their fall, some were smooth from year upon year of exposure of the currents washing over them night and day. I began to think how we are like those stones. Some of us have had areas of our lives smoothed by the gentle hand of Jesus who has over our walks with him removed the cutting edges and abraising angles. And then there are those of us who are still in the works. I think we all fit into both categories at times. The central point here though, is the importance of staying in the river. For as we stay under His rushing tides and loving cascades, we provide the sound of worship through our experiences and in the end we give glory to God. Isn't there a scripture that says somewhere, and I am paraphrasing, "if we do not Praise our God, he will make the rocks cry out for His Glory?" Together we make that beautiful sound of a rushing river...stay in His presence. Enjoy His Glorious River of Joy! Be Blessed!
In His Wonderful Service,
Larry Roques
